TEN HUT!

Attention Soldiers!

We are having a lot of fun in our preschool class with our new curriculuum.

In Ten Hut Jr, we have joined the “Help Corps” and are learning about David. Through the story of David, we are learning that David loved God so much. The bible teaches us ways to show others that we love God too.

Below are the main points to the lessons your children will be learning;
*God knows me and made me special!
* I will do what I say I will do.
*God gives me friends.
* I will be kind when others are mean.
*I will be happy because God loves me.
*I will share with others.
*I will thank God.
*I will be patient.
Your children will not want to miss the exciting adventures that we will go on to learn how we can live like the man after God's own heart.
Hope to see you soon!

Over and out...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy 2010! May your new year be a happy and healthy one.

With the New Year comes some changes at MVBC.

One change is that our preschool class is using a new video curriculum; Elevate Jr from Creative Pastors and Fellowship Church. http://www.creativepastors.com For the next couple of months we will be learning about King David. I was able to teach last week, using the new curriculum, and I loved it. The kids seem to too. The video does a great job of getting the kids to interact with what is being taught.

Another new thing happening on our campus is TOT SPOT!
TOT SPOT is a community playgroup for parents and their babies-4year olds. We meets at MVBC on the second Thursday of each month 9 - 11 AM. The cost is $2 for children 6 months and older. TOT SPOT is a time of music, play centers, snack, and story time. Bring your friends and neighbors!

Project Turkey

Project Turkey is our way of giving thanks to God for His provision as we adopt families within our community who are less fortunate than us by providing Thanksgiving dinner boxes. This year, we are partnering with the The Treasure Box to provide holiday dinner boxes for 100 families whose children attend Moon Mountain and Cactus View Elementary schools. Here's how you can adopt a family.

1.Purchase one (or more) holiday dinner box(es). - For only $31, you can adopt a family by buying a Treasure Box holiday dinner that includes all of the fixings of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner plus a whole lot more! Simply pay online for the amount of the gift you'd like to make, or write a check (include "Project Turkey" on the memo line) and drop it in a Connection Box at church no later than Sunday, November 15.
2.Deliver a holiday dinner box. Many of the families do not have transportation. You can make your gift more personal by delivering the box to their home. Deliveries will be made at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 21.
3.Help on delivery day. All the boxes will be delivered to MVBC at noon on Saturday, November 21. We will need help unloading and distributing boxes to those families who are able to pick up their boxes at MVBC. Plan to be here by 11:45 a.m., we expect to be finished by 1:30 p.m.

November is here!

Thinking Thanksgiving is the only day to celebrate in November?
Here are some fun dates that you and your family can "celebrate"....

November is National Pomegranate Month. Enjoy eating and decorating with this seasonal fruit. Make simple place cards for a family meal by making a slit in the blossom end of each pomegranate. Have your child decorate a name card to put in the slit and put one at each person's place.

3rd- Sandwich Day. In honor of the inventor of the sandwich, John Montague, the Fourth Earl of Sandwich, try a new kind of sandwich today. Let kids select a new flavor of jelly or a new kind of cheese.

7th- International Tongue Twister Contest. How many times can you and your children say "toy boat" or "yellow yo-yo" before you start laughing?

21st- Family Volunteer Day. Even young children can practice helping others! See if there is a project you and your children can help with at your church, preschool or for a neighbor. Let little ones stack books, dust furniture or shine doorknobs.

26th- Thanksgiving Day. Begin the tradition of having everyone in the family name something they are thankful for. Teach young ones to say a simple prayer of thanks before going to bed. "Dear God, thank you for ______" and let them fill in the blank.
